Technology makes dentistry more accurate and comfortable for our patients. While technology will never replace the skills of an experienced dentist, we have implemented some modern equipment and instruments that improve on the best dental care that we provide to Swansboro families.
Have you ever noticed a change inside your mouth and tried to get a peek at your teeth in the mirror? It’s dark back there and the mouth opening in relation to the eyes makes it a nearly impossible task to get an accurate view of what's happening.
This is where our intraoral camera comes in. We can take high-resolution pictures inside your mouth to show you exactly what our dentists see when they look inside your mouth. We can bring up these images right in your treatment room for you to see and talk about with your Swansboro dentist.
That way, you know what your condition is before making a decision about which treatment you prefer.
Vatech Cone Beam 3D & 2D Panorex X-ray
Cone Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) 3D imaging technology is used to visualize anatomical structures and pathologies otherwise hidden from clinical examinations. Vatech's highly advanced innovative green CT technology minimizes patient dose, while delivering superb quality scans in just 9 seconds, minimizing artifacts and motion.
CBCT 3D imaging allows us to:
- Properly evaluate, treat, and accurately diagnose
- Visualize nerves, teeth positions, and pathologies
- Optimize and customize treatment plans
Using ultra low x-ray dose technology, the Vatech Pax-i Green CT panoramic plus 3D cone beam system delivers a large field of view cone beam plus high-quality standard 2D panoramic images including extraoral bitewings. Implants can be planned accurately, nerves can be evaluated when in close proximity to wisdom teeth, pathology such as cyst and tumors of the jaws can be seen. Our goal is to accurately diagnose and treat our patients problems with the highest optimal standard of care.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Digital dental x-rays provide the highest resolution images possible in modern dentistry. Our dentists use digital x-rays to monitor what is happening beneath the dental enamel and gums. This might include decay, fractured teeth, fractured roots, bone levels, infections, cysts, and tumors.
We want your experience to be safe, so we use protective lead aprons and thyroid protectors while we take your x-rays. Digital dental x-rays also emit far less radiation – up to 80 percent less than traditional film x-rays.
Digital dental x-rays are green. We don’t need harmful chemicals to develop films, making them better for the environment.
Our practice uses PiezotomeTM CUBE is a brand-new ultrasonic device that provides superior, minimally invasive, compassionate care when performing extractions and other pre-implant bone surgery procedures. The high frequency, ultrasonic vibrations of the CUBE only cut bone and will not damage soft tissue, so it is very effective. Patients experience less trauma, less pain and less swelling post operatively with CUBE as compared to other methods such as a bur or manual forceps.
