Wouldn’t you love to avoid any surprise dental emergencies or painful teeth? The best way to keep your smile healthy is to stay on top of your preventive dental appointments. Prevention is the best type of dentistry to help you keep your teeth and your health!
Dental Exams and Check-Ups
Our dentists have a keen eye for detecting dental disease in its earliest stages. Often, a visual exam will identify cracks, decay, and gum disease before it progresses into tooth loss or pain. He will go tooth-by-tooth to determine if anything requires professional dental treatment.
This is your time to ask questions and for our dentists to explain any conditions to you. We don’t believe in high-pressure dentistry. Our dentists will present every option available and help you make a choice that works best for you.
We encourage you to discuss any cosmetic dentistry goals at your routine dental visits because having a smile you feel great about is essential to the care we provide.
Diagnostic Images and X-Rays
We have high-tech tools to assist with accurate diagnoses. Our intraoral cameras will allow us to show you exactly what we see when performing an exam. It’s hard to look inside your own mouth with any detail, but these high-resolution images will show you your conditions up close.
Since a lot can happen beneath the enamel, routine dental x-rays are an essential part of your oral healthcare. Digital dental x-rays are far safer because they emit less radiation and clearer images. We recommend dental x-rays periodically to look for signs of decay, bone loss, cysts, tumors, and infection.
If you have any concerns about x-rays, we are happy to share the latest science with you.
Dental Cleanings and Gum Treatments
Even if you brush and floss with the diligence of a dental hygienist, toothbrushes and floss cannot remove plaque from hard-to-reach areas. Eventually, plaque hardens into tartar and requires the skill and precision of a dental professional to remove.
Using a combination of an ultrasonic cleaner and handheld instruments, our hygienists will gently yet thoroughly remove tartar. When left on the teeth, tartar irritates the gums and causes gum infections, called periodontal disease.
The first signs of periodontal disease include bleeding and sensitivity when you clean your teeth. When we detect and treat it early, we can often reverse its progression. Otherwise, a more involved dental cleaning or even surgery may be required.
Mouthguards and Nightguards
If you like sports or have active kids, custom mouthguards can prevent sports-related injuries. We will make sure it fits comfortably so that it feels natural to breathe and won't impact performance.
If you clench and grind your teeth, you might notice cracks and wear. A custom nightguard to wear while you sleep will protect your teeth and promote jaw health.
